Tennessee at Wisconsin odds, picks and predictions

The No. 9 Tennessee Volunteers (1-0) head to Kohl Center to face the Wisconsin Badgers (1-0) on Friday at 9 p.m. ET (Peacock). Let’s analyze FanDuel Sportsbook lines around the Tennessee vs. Wisconsin odds as we make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and best bets.

Both teams won easily in their 1st games of the season.

The Volunteers beat Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles 80-42 on Monday. G Dalton Knecht, a 5th-year transfer from Northern Colorado, led Tennessee in scoring with 17 points while junior G Jordan Gainey, who transferred from South Carolina Upstate, added 14 points. Tennessee's defense was stifling holding Tech to 27 percent shooting and forcing 15 turnovers.

Wisconsin did not score 100 points in any game last season, but produced 105 in its 1st game against Arkansas State while allowing 76. The Badgers shot 65 percent from the field and 50 percent from 3. Junior G Chucky Hepburn led Wisconsin with 20 points on 7 of 10 shooting and pitched in 6 assists as well. He was helped by 15 points from St. John's sophomore transfer AJ Storr.

The last time these 2 met was in Knoxville in 2019 and the Badgers punished the Volunteers 68-48 easily covering the 3.5-point spread. The last time these 2 met in Madison was in 2016 when the Badgers won 74-62, but failed the cover the 13.5-point spread.

Tennessee at Wisconsin picks and predictions

Prediction

Tennessee 68, Wisconsin 62

Moneyline

PASS.

This game is basically a coin flip and the odds from Vegas tell you the exact same thing. Tennessee may be the more talented team, but it's neutralized by them being on the road in Madison. I'm just going to stay away from this bet and look to the total in this game.

Against the spread

PASS.

A line this small in college basketball is basically a moneyline bet. I have already explained why you should avoid the moneyline in this one. I personally like the total in this one. That's where my bet will go.

Over/Under

BET UNDER 132.5 TOTAL (-105).

Tennessee was the top team in the country in defensive efficiency. Rick Barnes plays a swarming style of defense which can be overwhelming to most teams. No way the Badgers shoot 65 percent from the field in this one. They only averaged 65 points per game last season. I think this will be a grind it out, half-court type game.
