Detroit Red Wings vs. Ottawa Senators odds, picks and predictions
The Detroit Red Wings (8-5-2) meet the Ottawa Senators (6-7-0) on Thursday at Avicii Arena in Stockholm, Sweden. Puck drop is scheduled for 2 p.m. ET (NHL Network). Below, we analyze FanDuel Sportsbook's lines around the Red Wings vs. Senators odds, and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.
The Red Wings picked up a 5-4 victory on Saturday, cashing the Over (6.5) in the process. The Red Wings are 3-4-2 across the past 9 games, while cashing the Over in 3 of the previous 4 outings.
The Senators posted a 4-1 win against the visiting Calgary Flames on Saturday, hitting a rare Under (6.5) result. The Sens are 3-6-0 across the past 9 games, while the Over is still 7-3-3 in 13 games overall despite the total going low against the Flames.
These teams met Oct. 21 in Canada's capital city, with the Red Wings wining 5-2 as an underdog (+140) with the Over (6.5) cashing.
The Red Wings are playing overseas for the 1st time since 2009, when they dropped a pair of games to the St. Louis Blues in Stockholm. The Senators played in Stockholm at the Ericsson Globe as part of the 2017 NHL Global Series, sweeping a pair of games against the Colorado Avalanche.
In the 2022 NHL Global Series, we had a total of 36 goals in 6 games, or 6.0 goals per game (GPG). In the 2019 NHL Global Series, we had a total of 31 goals in 5 games, or 6.2 GPG.

Red Wings vs. Senators projected goalies
James Reimer (2-2-1, 1.80 GAA, .933 SV%, 1 SO) vs. Joonas Korpisalo (4-4-0, 3.11 GAA, .907 SV%)
Reimer is confirmed to start the 1st game overseas for the Red Wings. He allowed 3 goals on 27 shots in his most recent start Thursday against the Montreal Canadiens in a 3-2 OT loss. He has lost 3 straight starts, but he has allowed just 7 goals on 81 shots during the span, receiving a total of just 3 goals of offensive support.
Korpisalo squared his record at 4-4-0 with a 24-save effort against the Flames on Saturday, winning 4-1. That's 2 consecutive victories for the Finnish-born backstop, and he is 2-1-0 with a 2.94 GAA and .912 SV% in 4 starts in the month of November. He allowed 5 goals on 23 shots in his first try against the Red Wings back on Oct. 21 in a 5-2 loss in Ottawa.

Red Wings vs. Senators picks and predictions
Prediction
Red Wings 4, Senators 3
Moneyline
The RED WINGS (+100) are a strong play at even-money. Detroit hasn't really benefited from rest, going 0-4 in the past 4 games when playing on 3 or more days of rest. However, the Senators (-120) are a risky play since they lost to the Red Wings in the earlier matchup in Canada's capital city.
And rest hasn't done the Sens much good, either, as they're 1-4 in the past 5 games when playing on 3 or more days of rest, while going 4-9 in the past 13 games following a win, while going 19-41 in the past 60 games against teams with a winning overall record.
Puck line/Against the spread
The Red Wings +1.5 (-240) are a little on the pricey side if you want insurance, and you just do not trust Detroit straight up.
While the Wings have won just twice in the past 9 tries against the Sens, again, Detroit has won the only meeting this season. If you like the Wings, just play them straight up for the much better value.
PASS.
Over/Under
OVER 6.5 (-138) is the lean, but be cautious.
We've seen these international goals produce 67 goals in the past 11 games, or 6.1 GPG in the past 2 times the NHL has been overseas.
While we can't glean a lot from those numbers, let's look to recent stats for both of these clubs. The Over is 4-1 in the past 5 meetings between these teams, including the first meeting this season.
The Over is also 3-1-1 in the past 5 games for the Red Wings when playing 3 or more days of rest, while going 5-1 in the past 6 following a win.
The Over is 7-3-3 this season for the Senators, while going 3-1-2 in the past 6 against winning teams.
