Detroit Pistons at Cleveland Cavaliers odds, picks and predictions

The Detroit Pistons (2-10) travel to face the Cleveland Cavaliers (5-6) Friday. Tip-off from Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse is set for 7:30 p.m. ET. Let's analyze BetMGM Sportsbook's lines around the Pistons vs. Cavaliers odds and make our expert NBA picks and predictions.

Season series: First meeting; Cleveland won 4-0 last season.

Detroit extended its losing streak to 9 games with a 126-120 loss at the hands of the Atlanta Hawks Tuesday, failing to cover as a 5-point favorite. The Pistons are 2-7 ATS during their losing skid and 7-2 on the Over/Under during that same span.

Cleveland came away with a 109-95 win over the Portland Trail Blazers Wednesday, covering as a 10-point favorite. Cleveland was carried by G Donovan Mitchell and his 34 points on 13-of-20 shooting. The Cavaliers' defense was also on full display as they held Portland to only 37.4% shooting from the field.

Pistons at Cavaliers picks and predictions

Prediction

Cleveland 117, Detroit 106

Moneyline

PASS.

Cleveland will be able to pick up the win here, but a -350 favorite is never worth the risk of betting on. Bet on the spread and/or total instead.

Against the spread

BET CAVALIERS -8.5 (-110).

Cleveland should be able to cover here as the injuries for Detroit will have a severe effect on both ends of the floor. Detroit is missing shooting, playmaking, depth, interior defense, and rebounding and that will make this an easy game for Cleveland to cover as a heavy favorite, assuming Mitchell and/or Garland suit up.

Over/Under

LEAN OVER 220.5 (-110).

The Over is 7-3 in Detroit's last 10 overall and 3-1 in Cleveland's last 4 overall. Detroit is a below-average team defensively that should struggle to contain Cleveland and its stars. This Cavaliers offense has not been great to start the season, particularly from long range, but this is a game where the Cavaliers should be able to score as least 115 points to carry this game past the Over number.
