UNLV at Air Force odds, picks and predictions

The UNLV Rebels (8-2, 5-1 Mountain West) and Air Force Falcons (8-2, 5-1) meet Saturday at Falcon Stadium at USAF Academy. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. ET (CBS Sports Network). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook's lines around the UNLV vs. Air Force odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

The Rebels have bounced back from a loss at Fresno State on Oct. 28 with 2 straight wins and covers, at New Mexico and at home to Wyoming. UNLV topped the Cowboys 34-14 last Friday, easily covering as a 3-point favorite as the total (48) pushed at most shops. Overall, UNLV is a sparkling 9-1 against the spread (ATS) in 10 games this season.

The Falcons suffered an embarrassing 27-13 loss at Hawaii last week, and the suddenly amazing offense has been impotent in the past 2 outings. Prior to the loss in the islands, Air Force lost at home against Army by a 23-3 count. The Falcons have hit the Under in 4 consecutive outings.

UNLV at Air Force picks and predictions

Prediction

UNLV 25, Air Force 19

Moneyline

UNLV (+120) is worth a look on the road as short 'dogs. Air Force (-145) has gone from 8-0 and looking at a potential New Year's Day bowl game, to a fight just to stay in the Mountain West Conference title game.

The Rebels have a strong offense, and UNLV's rushing defense has been very good, too. The Rebs allow just 124.5 rushing yards per game, which should at least slow down the strength of the Falcons.

Against the spread

Playing UNLV +2.5 (-110) isn't nearly as much of a value as rolling with the money line. However, if you're dead-seat on this game going to Air Force -2.5 (-110), but only by 1 or 2 points, you might want the small amount of insurance. For me, I'd likely only play the Rebels if the line were to get to a flat 3, or better yet, 3 and a hook.

Over/Under

UNDER 47.5 (-115) is a solid play in the Springs.

The Falcons have scored 41 or more points in 5 straight wins in the series against the Rebels. However, Air Force has had a power outage lately, and this UNLV team is the strongest it has been in nearly a decade. The Rebels stop the run pretty well, and that should keep the Falcons from scoring frequently.
