Notre Dame at Miami picks and predictions

Prediction

Miami 84, Notre Dame 65

Moneyline

STEER CLEAR.

Miami (-1400) will win, but there's no value risking nearly 14 times the potential return. The Fighting Irish were picked in the preseason to finish last in the conference. This isn't a good matchup for them. We'll get our money's worth on the spread.

Against the spread

TAKE MIAMI -14.5 (-110).

Although fresh off their 1st loss of the season, the 'Canes are the pick here. Miami has 3 returning starters from last season's squad that lost in the Final Four to eventual champion UConn. Miami is 2nd in the country in 3-point field-goal percentage (43.1%), according to Covers.com.

The Hurricanes will surely be glad to be back home to shoot the lights out after winning the Baha Mar Hoops Bahamas championship -- beating Georgia and Kansas State -- and suffering their 1st loss at Kentucky in the ACC/SEC challenge.

Over/Under

LEAN OVER 146.5 (-110).

As we continue to familiarize ourselves with the best rosters around college basketball, we can't ignore Miami's experience, led by G Wooga Poplar (18.2 points per game) and F Norchad Omier (16.5 PPG, 8.7 rebounds per game).

However, the Fighting Irish play the Hurricanes tough. Notre Dame is 4-3 at the Watsco Center (Miami's homecourt), which should drive this score up.

Miami averages 86.3 PPG, while Notre Dame is scoring 64.0 PPG.
