Grizzlies at Pistons picks and predictions
Prediction
Grizzlies 115, Pistons 109
Moneyline
The Grizzlies (-120) head to Detroit with a little bit of steam, winning 2 of the past 3 games, including an impressive pair of 14-point wins against the Utah Jazz at home on Nov. 29, and on the road against the Dallas Mavericks on Friday.
If you like Memphis, though, look to the spread, unless you're dead-set on the Grizzlies winning by just a single point.
PASS.
Against the spread
If you like the GRIZZLIES -1.5 (-110), they're a much better value laying the small spread, rather than paying extra on the moneyline.
Eventually, the Pistons +1.5 (-110) are going to snap this ugly losing streak, which is up to a franchise-record 17 games. However, unfortunately for Detroit, Memphis might be playing its best basketball of the season. About a week ago, this looked like a very winnable game, but now it appears the skid will continue.
Over/Under
OVER 219.5 (-112) is the play, as the Pistons have coughed up 118.1 PPG, ranking 23rd in the NBA, and Detroit is allowing the opposition to hit field goals at a 47.5% clip. The Pistons are pretty decent against the 3-pointer, ranking 15th at 36.5%. The Pistons have allowed 118 or more points in 4 of the past 5 games, and at least 126 points in 5 of the past 9 outings, and that's a good recipe for the Over.
The offense for the Grizzlies hasn't been great lately, and the 109 points Memphis scored in Phoenix last time out was its most since Nov. 18, a span of 7 games. But it is likely to score plenty against a Detroit team which offers very little resistance.
