Miami takes on OSU for the 1st time in 7 years and does so off back-to-back wins and 4 victories in its last 5 games. The Redhawks are coming off a 79-74 upset at Marshall Saturday. MU was an 11-point underdog, but it played strong defense and shot 50% from 3-point-land.
The Buckeyes, ranked No. 25 in the Paste BN Sports Coaches Poll, have won 6 straight games since falling to Texas A&M in Columbus Nov. 10. Ohio State plays a slow-tempo style, but it has been quite efficient on offense, shooting 40% from distance and posting top-40 rates in offensive rebounds and free-throw frequency.

Against the spread
The Redhawks are playing in a different zip code here, relative to the rest of their early-season slate. Their only other contest against a KenPom top-100 resulted in a 30-point loss at St. Bonaventure Nov. 25. But the Bonnies registered an outlier shooting performance in that game and Miami has otherwise been solid on defense.
Ohio State is due some regression in the 3-point game; Miami does a credible job in defending the perimeter. The Redhawks will certainly be tested in a couple of their analytics-green-check categories: getting to the free-throw line and avoiding midrange shot attempts. But MU does not have to ace those tests to stay within 23 points of the Buckeyes. A B-minus in both areas would go a long way to a cover,
Against other Quad 3 and Quad 4 foes, OSU has acted accordingly for the most part. But the Buckeyes play at a slow enough tempo and don't typically reach cruising altitude with a 25 or 30-point cushion.
BACK MIAMI +23.5 (-110).
