Oklahoma City Thunder at Houston Rockets odds, picks and predictions

The Oklahoma City Thunder (13-6) meet the Houston Rockets (8-9) on Wednesday at Toyota Center in Houston. Tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET. Let's analyze FanDuel Sportsbook's lines around the Thunder vs. Rockets odds and make our expert NBA picks and predictions.

Season series: First meeting; teams split 2-2 last season

The Thunder picked up a 126-120 win in Dallas on Saturday last time out, and OKC has posted victories in 8 of the past 10 games overall. The Thunder have covered 8 of the past 10 games, too, including 5-1 against the spread (ATS) in the past 6 on the road. The Over is 6-2 in the past 8 games overall.

The Rockets have dropped 3 games in a row, and it is just 1-2 ATS in that stretch, while cashing the Over in 2 of the past 3 outings. Houston has been hot at home lately, though, winning 8 in a row since Oct. 29 against Golden State and going 7-0-1 ATS in those outings.

These teams met 4 teams last season, with the home team winning and covering in each of the 4 meetings, and the Under cashed 3 times, including both meetings in H-Town.

Thunder at Rockets picks and predictions

Prediction

Rockets 114, Thunder 111

Moneyline

The ROCKETS (+118) are a solid value on their home court as short 'dogs. Houston has won 8 in a row since dropping its home opener against Golden State on Oct. 29, so Toyota Center has been a surprising difficult place to pick up win.

And remember, the home team has won the past 4 meetings in this series, too. The Thunder (-138) have been tremendous on the road, and this will be nip and tuck, but lean to the home side.

Against the spread

The Rockets +2.5 (-110) doesn't make much sense playing, unless you absolutely believe that the Thunder -2.5 (-110) are going to win, but just by a bucket. If you like Houston, back it straight up.

AVOID.

Over/Under

UNDER 226.5 (-110) is the play, but be careful. We saw the Under cash in 3 of the 4 meetings last season, but both of these teams are markedly better, too.

Still, the Under is 8-3 in the past 11 games overall for Houston, while cashing in 5 straight on its home floor.

However, OKC has hit the Over in 3 of the past 4 games overall, and 6 of the past 8 outings. The total has split 4-4 in the past 8 contests on the road for the Thunder.
