Los Angeles Clippers at Utah Jazz odds, picks and predictions

The Los Angeles Clippers (10-10) travel to meet the Utah Jazz (7-14) on Friday at Delta Center in Salt Lake City. Tip-off is scheduled for 10 p.m. ET (ESPN). Let's analyze FanDuel Sportsbook's lines around the Clippers vs. Jazz odds and make our expert NBA picks and predictions.

Season series: Jazz lead 1-0

The Clippers picked up the 111-102 victory against the defending champion Denver Nuggets on Wednesday, covering a 1.5-point spread as the Under (229.5) cashed. Los Angeles has won 7 of the past 10 games overall, although the Clips are still having trouble against the number. L.A. is just 5-11 ATS in the past 16 games overall, including 15 games since James Harden joined the team.

The Clippers have hit the Under in 2 in a row, while going 10-2 in the past 12 outings. The Over (227.5) did cover in the first meeting in Salt Lake City on Oct. 27, as Utah won 120-118 as 4.5-point underdogs.

The Jazz were embarrassed 147-97 last time out on Wednesday night against the Dallas Mavericks, not even coming close to covering as 11.5-point underdogs as the Over (235.5) connected. Utah hit just 40% from the field, while turning it over 19 times. Dallas hit 55% from the floor, while knocking down 22 3-pointers, with just 7 turnovers.

The Jazz have dropped 3 of the past 4 games overall, although Utah is still 4-2 ATS in the past 6 outings despite the lopsided loss and non-cover in Dallas. The Under is 6-2 in the past 8 games for the Jazz.

Clippers at Jazz picks and predictions

Prediction

Clippers 117, Jazz 104

Moneyline

The Clippers (-255) are a little on the pricey side, as the Jazz (+210) are coming off an embarrassing 50-point loss last time out. Still, there is no way to justify risking more than 2 1/2 times your potential return on a singular bet. Tossing the Clips into a multi-team parlay is even a little too risky, as it sucks the value out of your ticket.

PASS.

Against the spread

The CLIPPERS -6.5 (-108) are a strong play in SLC against the bumbling Jazz +6.5 (-112). Utah is having a lot of trouble scoring points, while it is allowing quite a few points.

The Jazz have dropped 7 of the past 10 games overall, and the Clips are starting to really jell nicely as a unit, after some early chemistry issues trying to fold Harden into the mix. It hasn't been a smooth running machine, but Los Angeles is getting there.

Over/Under

UNDER 225.5 (-110) is worth a look.

While the Over cashed in the first meeting back in October, both of these teams are in a much different place.

While the Over has hit in the past 2 games for the Jazz, they allowed 147 points in Dallas on Wednesday, and the game Saturday at home against Portland needed OT to get the total across the finish line. The Under is still 6-2 in the past 8 games for Utah, and is the way to go.

The Under has connected in the past 2 games for the Clippers, while cashing at a 10-2 pace in the past 12 games overall. The offense has been decent, but not amazing, but the defense has picked up the pace. That's bad news for a Utah team struggling to fill up the basket, but good news for potential Under bettors.
