The Charlotte 49ers (5-3) and Duke Blue Devils (5-3) meet Saturday at Cameron Indoor Stadium. Tip-off is scheduled for 2:15 p.m. ET (CW Network). Below, we analyze FanDuel Sportsbook's lines around the Charlotte vs. Duke odds, and make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and best bets.

The 49ers are coming off an 85-62 win over Stetson in the Queen City, covering as 7.5-point favorites as the Over (132.5) cashed. Charlotte is an impressive 5-1 against the spread (ATS) in the past 6 games overall, while hitting the Over in 3 of the previous 4 outings.

The Blue Devils are skidding, and they'll be glad to be back home in front of the Cameron Crazies for support. Duke enters with back-to-back losses at Arkansas and at Georgia Tech in the ACC opener. It has failed to cover 3 in a row, and 4 of the past 5 games, while alternating the Under and Over in each of the past 4 contests.

This is the 1st meeting since Nov. 17, 2009, when Duke pounded Charlotte at Cameron by a 101-59 score to cover as a 17.5-point favorite.

Duke is No. 21 in the Paste BN Sports Coaches Poll.

Charlotte at Duke picks and predictions

Prediction

Duke 74, Charlotte 62

Moneyline

Duke (-2000) will cost you too much on the moneyline. First off, that's a crazy play to risk 20 times your return, and betting such heavy favorites is a bad long-term strategy. However, that's especially so backing a team which is on a 2-game losing skid.

AVOID.

Against the spread

CHARLOTTE +15.5 (-110) is worth backing on the road.

The 49ers aren't a fast-paced offense, but they're a very good shooting team, hitting 47.1% from the field. This team ranks No. 17 in free-throw percentage, according to Covers.com, hitting 78.1%. Defensively, Charlotte makes the opponent work hard, limiting teams to 61.9 PPG, while holding the opposition to just 40.2% from the field.

Duke -15.5 (-110) is not going to falter against a non-conference opponent for the 2nd straight outing, but it will have its hands full against a decent in-state opponent which will play hard for a full 40.

Over/Under

UNDER 135.5 (-110) is the lean, but go with a half-unit play at most.

While Charlotte has picked up the Over in 3 of the past 4 games, they're more of a slower-paced offense. It averaged 83.0 PPG in the past 2 games against Davidson and Stetson, but it won't sniff that kind of offense at Duke. Defensively, the 49ers are very good, and they'll give the Blue Devils fits, at least early on before adjustments are made.

Duke has hit the Under in 2 of the past 3 outings, and it is 2-2 in the past 4 games at home. Against non-Power 6 conference opponents, Duke has allowed 66 or fewer points in all 4 outings at home.
