Alabama vs. Arizona odds, picks and predictions

The Alabama Crimson Tide (6-4) head to the Footprint Center in Phoenix to face the No. 4 Arizona Wildcats (8-1) Wednesday at 11 p.m. ET (ESPN). Let’s analyze FanDuel Sportsbook lines around the Alabama vs. Arizona odds as we make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and best bets.

The Crimson Tide are in the midst of an impossibly tough portion of their schedule, facing their 3rd straight top-10 opponent. Alabama lost 85-82 on Saturday to now No. 14 Creighton, covering the 7.5-point spread as the underdog as the Over 165.5 hit. Senior G Mark Sears had 19 points for Alabama, which is No. 2 in the country averaging 92.1 points per game.

Arizona, which is No. 4 in the Paste BN Sports Coaches Poll, dropped its 1st game of the season on Saturday, 92-84 to No. 1 Purdue. They failed to cover as a 2-point favorite while the Over (159.5) did hit. Senior G Caleb Love led all scorers in the game with 29 points and added 6 rebounds. The Wildcats also got 24 points and 8 boards from senior F Keshad Johnson. Arizona is the highest-scoring team in the country at 92.9 points per game.

These 2 teams last met Dec. 9, 2018, in Tuscaloosa with Alabama coming out on top 76-73. The 3-point spread pushed, and the game went Over (145.5).

Alabama vs. Arizona picks and predictions

Prediction

Arizona 87, Alabama 80

Moneyline

PASS.

Arizona will win this game, but I'm not interested in betting 3 units to win 1. I’m going to save my bet for the spread and total.

Against the spread

BET ALABAMA +7.5 (-118).

The Crimson Tide's record does not indicate how truly good they are. If you look closer at their game log, the average margin of victory in their 4 losses was just 7 points. 2 of those losses were to top-10 teams.

They have been the underdog in 2 games this season and they are 1-1 in those games. I believe this will be a back-and-forth affair that comes down to the wire.

Over/Under

AVOID.

This may be the biggest total I've ever seen in a college basketball game. It makes sense though when you've got the nation's top-2 scoring teams facing  each other. They both average over 90 points per game on the season.

As much as I want to take the Over, it's just such a huge number, I'm going to avoid the bet. Arizona has held their opponents to 67 points per game and while I believe Alabama will score more than that, it won't be much more.
