New Orleans Saints at Los Angeles Rams odds, picks and predictions

The New Orleans Saints (7-7) and Los Angeles Rams (7-7) meet Thursday.  Kickoff from SoFi Stadium is set for 8:15 p.m. ET (Prime Video). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook's lines around the Saints vs. Rams odds, and make our expert NFL picks and predictions.

This matchup has huge playoff implications as both teams sit at 7-7 and in the wild-card race.

The Saints have won back-to-back games, easily beating the Carolina Panthers, 28-6, and the New York Giants, 24-6. They now rank 6th in points allowed this season, but the offense has lagged behind a bit, ranking only 14th in total yards. Despite winning their last 2 games comfortably, they only totaled 503 yards in those wins.

The Rams started the year 3-6 but have won 4 of their last 5 games to pull into the 7th spot in the NFC at 7-7. They took down the Washington Commanders on Sunday, 28-20, bouncing back from a heartbreaking overtime loss to the Baltimore Ravens the week prior. They've now covered the spread in 4 straight games after failing to cover in each of the previous 4.

Saints at Rams picks and predictions

Prediction

Rams 24, Saints 17

Moneyline

Their records may be the same, but the Rams (-200) are playing much better football than the Saints are right now. They had impressive wins over the Seahawks and Browns since their Week 10 bye, and they also took the Ravens into overtime.

The Saints, meanwhile, have faced much weaker competition, beating only one team that's above .500 this season (Indianapolis Colts). At -200, the Rams aren't worth betting on because of the juiced line, but they're the better team. PASS on the ML.

Against the spread

As previously mentioned, the Rams are a perfect 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games and 8-5-1 ATS on the year. This is virtually a playoff game for both teams, with the loser's postseason chances dropping precipitously, and Rams coach Sean McVay has plenty of experience in situations like this one.

This is a matchup the Rams should win and cover in, especially against a team that's just 2-3 ATS in its last 5 and 3-5 ATS in its last 8. With Rams QB Matthew Stafford playing much better than Saints QB Derek Carr, the Rams should win by at least a touchdown. BET RAMS -4 (-110).

Over/Under

The total has gone Under in 6 of the last 10 games for both of these teams this season and in 3 of the 5 meetings between them since McVay took over as the Rams' coach in 2017. Both defenses are playing well right now, and with the Saints being as banged up as they are, points may not come easily.

BET UNDER 46 (-110) on Thursday.
