NFL player props: 5 best bets for Week 17
The NFL is unaccustomed to playing a slate of games on New Year's Eve, so those looking to get their year-end drink on can make wagers in the early window of games to get that out of the way before toasting out the old and in the new.
Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook's NFL odds and lines, and tab the best NFL Week 17 player prop bets to cash in on among SportbookWire's NFL expert picks and predictions.
This week we have the NFC Offensive Rookie of the Year scoring a touchdown, a pair of quarterbacks facing bird-themed teams and a No. 2 receiver in an offense continuing a trend of success against a division opponent.
The best part? All results will be in by 4:15 or so and you can get on to doing what you do before the ball drops in Times Square.

Buccaneers WR Chris Godwin OVER 55.5 receiving yards (-110)
- Host Saints, 1 p.m. (FOX)
Godwin has been a disappointment for much of the season but has been QB Baker Mayfield's main target the last 2 weeks as the Bucs (8-7) have needed to win to stay in the playoff picture.
Godwin has been targeted 22 times, catching 16 passes for 233 yards in the last 2 games. Prior to that, he had one 100-yard game all season -- an 8-catch, 114-yard showing in a 26-9 victory at the Saints (7-8) in their 1st meeting.
Rams WR Puka Nacua SCORES A TOUCHDOWN (+100)
- At Giants, 1 p.m. (FOX)
When you pick a receiver to score a TD, you have to take into account how often he's targeted.
In his last 4 games, Nacua has been targeted 35 times, catching 23 passes for 403 yards and 2 TDs. The Rams (8-7) enter play this weekend as a playoff team and need to win to stay there.
QB Matthew Stafford is on fire, having thrown 14 TDs in his last 5 games. If he throws 3 against the Giants (5-10) Sunday, it's hard to imagine one of them not going to Nacua.
Bears QB Justin Fields OVER 53.5 rushing yards (-115)
- Host Falcons, 1 p.m. (CBS)
Since coming back from injury, Fields has topped this number in 4 of 5 games as the Bears (6-9) went 3-2. He knows his future is being questioned and that plays into this projection.
Prior to being sidelined for 4 weeks, Fields wasn't running to the extent he had in the past. Since coming back, that has changed.
In the last 5 games, he has averaged 11.6 carries a game with a low of 7. If he rushes 10 times, this Over shouldn't be hard to top.
Eagles QB Jalen Hurts UNDER 249.5 passing yards (-115)
- Host Cardinals, 1 p.m. (FOX)
There are too many scenarios where the Eagles (11-4) will have a lead looking to run the ball that makes this a big number.
If Hurts has 170 passing yards in the 1st half, the likelihood is that the Eagles have a big enough lead to not take too many risks and get the job done. In that case, he still doesn't hit this number.
Hurts hasn't topped this number in 5 of his last 7 games and, against the Cardinals (3-12) at 10 a.m. Arizona time in a hostile environment, he may not need to throw a pass in the 2nd half that isn't necessary.
Dolphins RB Raheem Mostert OVER 45.5 rushing yards (-110)
- At Ravens, 1 p.m. (CBS)
To not hit the Over here, Mostert needs to have 10 or fewer carries. There are multiple problems with that requirement.
Mostert is averaging 4.8 yards a carry. The Ravens are allowing 4.4 yards a carry. In a game with bye-week implications in the playoffs, if the Dolphins (11-4) can extend drives by effectively running the ball they will.
Over his last 7 games, Mostert has averaged almost 16 carries a game. He won't need to hit that to hit this number.
