2024 The Sentry odds, picks and PGA Tour predictions
The PGA Tour kicks off the 2024 calendar year as it always does in Maui, Hawaii, with The Sentry. This year, the field is the biggest it's ever been now that it's a signature event, featuring 59 total players, including 21 of the top 25 players in the world. It includes winners from last season, as well as the top 50 finishers in the FedExCup standings.
The tournament begins on Thursday morning from Kapalua Resort in Maui. Below, we look at the 2024 The Sentry odds and make our PGA Tour picks and predictions.
This is a loaded field, which is headlined by Scottie Scheffler, Viktor Hovland, Patrick Cantlay and Xander Schauffele, among many others. Last year's champion, Jon Rahm, is not in the field following his departure to LIV Golf, but the runner-up, Collin Morikawa, is teeing it up. Scheffler and Schauffele are the highest-ranked players in the latest Golfweek/Sagarin rankings, followed by Hovland at No. 3.
The Plantation Course at Kapalua Resort is a unique par 73 track that spans 7,596 yards, making it extremely long on paper. However, with such steep elevation changes, it plays much shorter than that and the result is typically a very low winning score; Rahm won it at 27-under par last year, with 12 players finishing 20-under or better.

Collin Morikawa (+1200)
Morikawa should've won this tournament a year ago but a stunning collapse on Sunday cost him a victory as Rahm chased him down. He held a 6-shot lead after 54 holds but finished with a final-round 72, including a 2-over back-9 to lose by 2 strokes. He'll be back in the hunt again this year and he's not going to blow it like he did in 2023.
Xander Schauffele (+1400)
Schauffele withdrew from the Sentry Tournament of Champions last year but he has a terrific track record at Kapalua. He won the event in 2019, finished 2nd in 2020 and 5th in 2021 before coming in 12th in 2022. He's in for a big 2024 season and could kick things off with a victory in a loaded field – the exact type of tournament he contends in.
The Sentry picks – Contenders
Tom Kim (+2500)
In his Sentry debut last year, Kim finished tied for 5th thanks to 4 rounds in the 60s. He finished 5 shots back of Rahm but was in contention all week thanks to some stellar play. With a year of experience under his belt now, Kim should find himself in the mix again in Kapalua.
Cameron Young (+4000)
Young also made his debut last year, coming in 13th with a final score of 19-under par. He started the week slow as he learned the course, shooting 70 in the first 2 rounds, but he finished with a final-round 64 on Sunday to move up the leaderboard. With massive fairways, Young's length will be an advantage because of the lack of penalties for missing the short grass.
The Sentry picks – Long shots
Sahith Theegala (+6600)
Theegala had a tough showing here last year, shooting 67 in the first round before going 71-72-72 in the final 3 rounds. However, he finished the 2023 season with a strong fall, winning the Fortinet Championship, and coming in 19th in the ZOZO Championship a month later.
Eric Cole (+6000)
It's hard to find a player who had a better fall than Cole. He went T-3, T-2 and T-3 in his final 3 starts of the season after also coming in 4th at the Fortinet Championship in September. He's still seeking that elusive 1st win, but he's on the brink of a victory.
