Duke at Pittsburgh odds, picks and predictions

The Duke Blue Devils (11-3, 2-1 ACC) and Pittsburgh Panthers (10-5, 1-3) meet Tuesday at the Petersen Events Center in Pittsburgh. Tip-off is scheduled for 9 p.m. ET (ESPN). Below, we analyze FanDuel Sportsbook's lines around the Duke vs. Pittsburgh odds, and make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and best bets.

The Blue Devils have picked up 6 straight wins since a 72-68 road loss against Georgia Tech on Dec. 2. Duke has covered 5 of the past 6 outings, too. Duke won at Notre Dame last time out as a 14.5-point favorite, but the Blue Devils are still 0-3 against the spread (ATS) in 3 true road outings.

The Panthers posted an 83-70 win at Louisville as an 8.5-point favorite to snap a 2-game losing skid. Pitt lost 70-57 against North Carolina as a 4-point underdog in the most recent home game, and the Panthers are a dismal 2-4 ATS in the past 6 games overall, while going 4-7 ATS in the past 11 outings after a 4-0 ATS start to the season.

Duke is No. 11 in the Paste BN Sports Coaches Poll.

Duke at Pittsburgh picks and predictions

Prediction

Duke 76, Pittsburgh 67

Moneyline

Duke (-215) will cost you more than 2 times your potential return, and that's just a little more than my personal moneyline limit of -180. The Blue Devils have won just 1 of its previous 3 true road games this season, too, so there is quite a bit of risk and not enough reward.

PASS.

Against the spread

DUKE -5.5 (-102) is a decent play laying the points. While the Blue Devils have had their issues on the road, they got the job done at Notre Dame. It wasn't a perfect performance against the Irish, hitting just 36.0% from the field, but the Blue Devils gained some confidence. They'll build upon that win against a Panthers side which was pounded by UNC last time out at home.

Pittsburgh +5.5 (-120) has covered just once in the past 6 home games, and the Panthers are just 3-5 ATS in the past 8 tries against Power 6 conference teams this season.

Over/Under

UNDER 146.5 (-105) is the lean, but go with a half-unit play at most.

The Under has hit in 3 of the past 5 games at home, with Pitt going for 62 or fewer points in 2 of the past 4 outings. Defensively, the Panthers are pretty solid, allowing 65.5 PPG, while holding teams to just 40.0% from the field. Pitt has limited teams to 36.9% from behind the 3-point line, too, and it struggles with a 43.8% field-goal percentage on offense. That's a good recipe for the Under.

Pitt is driving the Under here, as Duke has a pretty solid offense. Of course, it hit just 36.0% from the field at Notre Dame last time out, and the Blue Devils hold their own defensively, allowing 66.1 PPG.
