New York Knicks at Memphis Grizzlies odds, picks and predictions

The New York Knicks (22-16) and the Memphis Grizzlies (14-24) meet Saturday at the FedEx Forum in Memphis. Tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET. Let's analyze BetMGM Sportsbook's lines around the Knicks vs. Grizzlies odds and make our expert NBA picks and predictions.

Season series: First meeting; Grizzlies won 2-0 in 2022-23

The Knicks suffered a 128-124 setback to kick off the quick, 2-game road trip, and that loss snapped a 5-game win and cover streak. The Over (235) cashed, too, snapping a 5-0 Under run. New York's defense had been on point, allowing 106 or fewer points from Jan. 1-9 before the breakdown against the Mavs.

The Grizzlies returned home from a successful 3-game road win and cover  streak, falling to the Clippers 128-119 as an 8.5-point underdog at home Friday. The Grizzlies are still 3-2 ATS in the past 5 games as an underdog of 8 or more points, while the Over has hit in 3 of the past 4 contests.

Knicks at Grizzlies picks and predictions

Prediction

Knicks 119, Grizzlies 103

Moneyline

The Knicks (-350) will cost you 3 1/2 times your potential return, and that's crazy to risk that kind of money for such a small reward.

Yes, the Grizzlies (+260) are likely to tumble back down the standings with Morant and Smart sidelined, but nothing is a sure thing, and there is no sense putting up so much money to get so little back.

PASS, and look to the spread instead.

Against the spread

It was brief, but the Grizzlies +7.5 (-105) were a really fun team to watch when Morant returned from the 25-game suspension. They looked like a playoff team again, but that's all over.

The KNICKS -7.5 (-115) should do exactly what the Clippers did in the previous game, and that's win in Memphis and cover the spread. New York is 5-1 ATS in the past 6 games, and 2-1 ATS in 3 road games in that span.

Over/Under

The UNDER 222.5 (-110) is the lean, but go with a half-unit play at most.

There are concerns about how Memphis is going to score, and that's especially so against a normally turgid New York defense. The Knicks had allowed 106 or fewer points in 5 straight games from Jan. 1-9 before Dallas got them for 128 points. The Under is still 5-1 in the past 6 games for the Knicks.

The Under is 5-3 in the past 8 games for the Grizzlies, while going 5-1 in the previous 6 outings at home. And with no Ja or Smart out there, the scoring will continue to be a struggle.
