2024 Farmers Insurance Open odds, picks and PGA Tour predictions
The year of the long shot continued on Sunday with amateur Nick Dunlap winning The American Express, making him the 1st amateur to win on the PGA Tour since Phil Mickelson in 1991. It's the 3rd straight tournament where the winner had opening odds of +10000 or longer. This week, many of the top players will take on Torrey Pines in the 2024 Farmers Insurance Open, which begins on Thursday.
Below, we look at the 2024 Farmers Insurance Open odds and make our PGA Tour picks and predictions.
San Diego native Xander Schauffele is the betting favorite this week, coming into the tournament with +900 odds to win. Collin Morikawa has the 2nd-best odds at +1000, followed by Max Homa and Patrick Cantlay (+1100). It was Homa who won this event last year, finishing the week 13-under par to win by 2 shots over Keegan Bradley.
It'll be a 2-course rotation this week, with players taking on the North and South courses at Torrey Pines in the 1st 2 rounds. The South course will then host the final 2 rounds after the 36-hole cut. The South course is the longest of the 2, coming in at 7,765 yards as a par 72, while the North course is 7,258 yards, also a par 72.

Keegan Bradley (+3000)
Bradley's an East Coast guy but he's played extremely well in this West Coast event. His finishes since 2018: T-5, T-35, T-16, T-65, 2nd. He doesn't have terribly long odds but he's still worth betting at +3000 because of his recent form (T-2 at the Sony Open) and track record at Torrey Pines.
Tony Finau (+2800)
Torrey Pines favors longer hitters, which Finau certainly is. With his length off the tee, he can give himself an advantage by hitting wedges and short irons into more greens than most players in the field. Aside from a missed cut in 2022, he also has a fantastic record here with finishes of T-9 and T-2 in his last 2 starts at Torrey Pines.
Min Woo Lee (+2800)
Lee is making his debut at the Farmers Insurance Open this week but that shouldn't deter anyone from betting him. He just finished T-21 in The American Express last week and has the length to overpower Torrey Pines despite never playing a PGA Tour event here before.
Farmers Insurance Open picks – Contenders
Luke List (+6600)
List beat Will Zalatoris in a playoff here 2 years ago, a triumphant win for his 1st-ever PGA Tour victory. He always seems to play well here, finishing no worse than 40th in his last 6 starts here, including a win and 2 other top-12 finishes.
Hideki Matsuyama (+4500)
Matsuyama has made the cut in this tournament 6 years in a row, finishing in the top 12 three times. Just last year, he tied for 9th, only 6 shots back of the winner and 2 shots out of a top-5. He struggled in The Sentry to start the year, but he finished T-30 at the Sony Open, so he's rounding into form.
Farmers Insurance Open picks – Long shots
Ryo Hisatsune (+8000)
Hisatsune is trending in the right direction this season, already finishing 30th in the Sony Open and 11th in The American Express last week. He's a long shot, but he ranks 32nd in total strokes gained this year and 2nd in SG: putting.
Lanto Griffin (+20000)
Griffin tied for 39th last week at The American Express. In the last 3 starts at the Farmers Insurance Open, he's finished 37th, 30th and 7th. He tied for 12th in 2018, so this is a venue he knows well and has performed at a high level at.
