The Wings rebounded with a 2-1 victory over the Tampa Bay Lightning Sunday. It was the 4th straight Under cash for Detroit, which is 7-2-1 straight up over the last 10. Detroit holds a Wild Card spot in a tight Eastern Conference, and it's just 1 point out of 3rd in the division.

Stars at Red Wings projected goalies
Jake Oettinger (13-9-2, 2.97 GAA, .904 SV%, 1 SO) vs. Alex Lyon (10-5-1, 2.57 GAA, .922 SV%, 1 SO)
Oettinger is expected to go, despite battling an illness. he allowed 5 goals on 43 shots in his last start Thursday against the Philadelphia Flyers. He hasn't been his normal shutdown self, allowing 4+ goals in 5 of his last 8 starts. He was in goal for the 6-3 win over Detroit Dec. 11, stopping 27 of 30 shots.
Lyon was fantastic in his Sunday win over the Lightning, allowing 1 goal on 28 shots. He had allowed either 2 or 3 goals in his previous 7 starts this month and is 6-1-1 with a 2.47 GAA and .927 SV%.

Prediction
Red Wings 3, Stars 2
Moneyline
Dallas has won 5 straight and 9 of 10 against the Wings. I'm throwing that straight out of the window. The Wings are getting better goaltending right now. They're a solid 12-7-4 at home, and Dallas is on the 4th and final game of a road trip.
These teams are pretty evenly matched with Dallas 3rd in scoring at 3.63 GPG, and Detroit is tied for 6th at 3.48. Both teams have middling defenses and power plays. Detroit has held the opposition to 2 or fewer goals in 3 of 4 games against playoff teams. That's the ingredient it'll need to win this one.
Take the RED WINGS +115.
Puck line/Against the spread
I'm passing on the insurance for Detroit at -210. If you have a free bet or an itchy finger, think about this scenario:
LW Alex DeBrincat hasn't scored a goal in 10 games. He has been practically invisible, actually with 1 shot on goal or fewer in 4 of 5 games before the win over the Lightning. He didn't light the lamp, but he had 3 shots on goal, and RW Patrick Kane is out with a lower-body injury. That could be the start of a breakout. DeBrincat had 5 shots on goal and an assist against Dallas in December. I would highly consider DEBRINCAT OVER 2.5 SHOTS (-125) and because of the due factor, I'd toss a free bet or a small-unit wager on a DeBrincat anytime goal (+195).
Over/Under
There are a ton of Over trends in this matchup, but if this goes over, I don't think Detroit wins. There have been 7+ goals in 4 of 5 meetings. However, Dallas has kept it to 6 or fewer in 4 of its last 5 games. Detroit has hit 7 once in 7 games.
Take the UNDER 6.5 (-110).
