Atlanta Hawks at Golden State Warriors odds, picks and predictions

The Atlanta Hawks (18-25) and Golden State Warriors (18-22) meet at Chase Center Wednesday. Tip-off is set for 10 p.m. ET. Let's analyze BetMGM Sportsbook's lines around the Hawks vs. Warriors odds and make our expert NBA picks and predictions.

Season series: First meeting; split last season 1-1

The Warriors resume their season in their 1st game back after the death of assistant Dejan Milojevic in Salt Lake City last Wednesday.

The last game Golden State played was a 116-107 loss at the Memphis Grizzlies Jan. 15 as the Under (226.5) hit; the Warriors were 7.5-point favorites.

The Hawks are coming off a poor showing as 8.5-point underdogs in a 122-107 loss at the Sacramento Kings Monday as the Under (237.5) cashed. Atlanta was without G Trae Young (concussion), who will also be out Wednesday.

Each team covered once in 2 meetings last season, and the Over/Under (O/U) went 1-1.

Hawks at Warriors picks and predictions

Prediction

Warriors 120, Hawks 105

Moneyline

The Warriors (-250) should beat the shorthanded Hawks, but I prefer laying the points over risking $250 to win $100 in this spot.

PASS. Bet the spread and/or total instead.

Against the spread

Over their last 37 games, the Hawks are just 8-29 ATS. They were in a good spot to cover against the Kings with an inflated spread after Young was announced out, and they still managed to lose by double digits for the 4th time in their last 7 games. G Dejounte Murray stepped up a bit in Young's absence with 35 points, but it was business as usual for the rest of the team.

If the Hawks couldn't find the inspiration to play well in Young's 1st game out, I don't see how they do it here against this Warriors team that will be motivated to win in its 1st game back.

BET WARRIORS -6.5 (-110).

Over/Under

The Under has hit in 7 straight Hawks games.

The Hawks' projected team total was 114.5 points last time out, and they managed to score just 107. Atlanta is averaging 104.7 points over its last 7 games and shouldn't be expected to contribute much toward helping an Over hit.

BET UNDER 235.5 (-110).
