Clemson at Duke odds, picks and predictions

The Clemson Tigers (14-4, 3-4 ACC) and No. 12 Duke Blue Devils (14-4, 5-2 ACC) meet at Cameron Indoor Stadium Saturday at 4 p.m. ET (ESPN). Below, we analyze FanDuel Sportsbook's lines around the Clemson vs. Duke odds, and make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and best bets.

One week ago, Duke entered into their home matchup with Pitt as a 12.5-point favorite, but it was the Panthers who escaped Durham with an 80-76 victory. The Blue Devils were without senior G Jeremy Roach and sophomore F Mark Mitchell, their 2nd- and 3rd-leading scorers respectively as they were dealing with injuries. Jon Scheyer's group rebounded this past week by taking down lowly Louisville 83-69, barely failing to cash ATS (-14.5).

Clemson has won 2 of their last 3 games after dropping 3 straight ACC games to start the year. Senior C PJ Hall is 2nd in the conference in scoring (19.7 ppg) and blocks per game (2.1). Hall was the leading scorer in last year's matchup between Clemson and Duke at Littlejohn Coliseum with 26 points. The Blue Devils did not hit a shot in the final 5 minutes of that game as the Tigers cashed as a 1-point favorite, prevailing 72-64.

Clemson at Duke picks and predictions

Prediction

Duke 77, Clemson 71

Moneyline

PASS.

-360 is too much juice to lay on the moneyline for 1 game, but I certainly understand if you wanted to include Duke in a ML parlay. A couple of dance partners I would consider in that build would be Tennessee (-1400) at Vanderbilt as well as the Virginia Tech Hokies (-450) at home against Georgia Tech. The price on that 3-leg parlay is around -149.

Against the spread

BET CLEMSON +7.5.

Hall is the 6th-most efficient player in college basketball as he enters Saturday with a 31.8 PER, which measures pro-minute productivity. I believe the senior big man, who won 4 state titles in High School (Dorman) will keep his team in it, even with the raucous Cameron Indoor crowd.

Roach returned for Duke in the victory over Louisville, but he played just 17 minutes. He has dealt with knee and ankle injuries recently, which could limit his ball-handling ability. Sophomore C Kyle Filipowski accounts for almost 40% of Duke's scoring, if Hall is able to limit scoring opportunities for the 7-footer inside, then the Tigers should stay competitive.

Over/Under

BET UNDER 150.5 (-110).

These schools sit atop the ACC in assists per game as a team: Duke is No. 1 (16.28) with Clemson right behind them (15.83). This means that both teams will work to try and get the best shot, and the possessions per game numbers reflect that as well. Clemson averages 70.8 possessions per game (No. 201) with Duke sitting at No. 224 (70.2). I am not expecting a frenetic pace in this critical ACC showdown.
