The Nevada Wolf Pack (16-4, 3-3 Mountain West) head to The Pit to face the No. 25 New Mexico Lobos (17-3, 5-2) Sunday at 10 p.m. ET (FS1). Let’s analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s lines around the Nevada vs. New Mexico odds as we make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and best bets.

Nevada broke free from its 3-game losing streak with a decisive 77-64 victory over No. 23 Colorado State in Reno on Wednesday, propelled by G Jarod Lucas' impressive performance. The 5th-year senior showcased his scoring prowess with 28 points, hitting 10 of 14 shots from the field. This marked his 2nd-highest scoring output of the season, complemented by a season-high 10 made field goals. The Wolf Pack displayed offensive efficiency, shooting 53.7 percent from the field, 40 percent from beyond the arc, and tallying 19 assists on 29 made field goals. They have lost their last 2 road games.

No. 25 New Mexico heads into Sunday's matchup boasting a formidable 4-game winning streak. In its recent 95-75 victory over San Jose State, all 5 of the Lobos' starters achieved double-digit scoring, led by G Jaelen House's impressive 18 points. F JT Toppin recorded his 7th double-double of the season, with 14 points and 10 rebounds, while also equaling a career-high with 5 blocks. Lobos leading scorer G Jamal Mashburn Jr. contributed 17 points on 7-of-11 shooting. That's 4 straight double-figure conference victories for New Mexico, the longest streak since the 2011-12 season.

Nevada has won 9 straight head-to-head meetings with New Mexico dating back to Feb. 9, 2019. The last victory occurred on Feb. 7, 2023, 77-76 in Albuquerque. The Wolf Pack won outright as 5.5-point underdogs, and the Over (150.5) hit.

Nevada at New Mexico picks and predictions

Prediction

New Mexico 77, Nevada 73

Moneyline

PASS.

As confident as I am that New Mexico (-400) wins this game, I would never recommend you bet 4 units to win 1, especially in a tough conference game like this one. Take your money and put it on the spread if you want to make a bet.

Against the spread

BET NEVADA +8.5 (-110).

I personally believe that this line is mispriced and you should take advantage of it. These are 2 very good teams in the Mountain West and it will come down to the wire. The Wolf Pack are in the midst of the toughest part of their schedule. This will be their 3rd road game in their last 4, and those 3 were all against teams ahead of them in the conference standings. I believe they are battle tested, while New Mexico has put it on cruise control over its last 2 victories.

Nevada has also covered the spread in 7 of their last 10 matchups against New Mexico.

Over/Under

PASS.

I am going to avoid this total. Two teams on the opposite ends of the spectrum when it comes to trends. Nevada has gone Under in 6 of its last 7 games, while New Mexico has gone Over in each of its last 5.

I don't see a clear edge either way in this matchup, so I'm going to just put more of my money into that bet on the spread.
