The South Carolina Gamecocks (17-3, 5-2 SEC) head to the Thompson-Boling Arena to face the No. 5 Tennessee Volunteers (15-4, 5-1) Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. ET (SEC Network). Let’s analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s lines around the South Carolina vs. Tennessee odds as we make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and best bets.

South Carolina won its 3rd straight game Saturday, 72-64 over the Missouri Tigers to cover as a 5.5-point favorite while the Over (134) hit. B.J. Mack, senior transfer from Wofford, scored 21 points as the Gamecocks hit 10 3-pointers to hold off a Missouri 2nd-half comeback. The Gamecocks entered the contest with momentum following an impressive 79-62 win against No. 6 Kentucky earlier in the week.

Tennessee, which is No. 5 in the Paste BN Sports Coaches Poll, won its 4th-straight game Saturday against the Vanderbilt Commodores, 75-62 to miss covering as a 13.5-point favorite. The game went Under the 141.5 total. This was the 4th time this season that senior G Dalton Knecht has scored 32 points or more. The Volunteers handled their business in the paint, outscoring the Commodores 32-24.

Tennessee has won 9 of the last 10 head-to-head meetings with South Carolina, and have covered the spread in 7 of them. The Volunteers dominated the Gamecocks in their most recent meeting on Feb. 25, 2023, winning 85-45 as a 22.5-point favorite. They pushed on the 130 total.

South Carolina at Tennessee picks and predictions

Prediction

Tennessee 74, South Carolina 66

Moneyline

PASS.

I think these odds are a bit outrageous for a matchup like this one. These 2 teams are closer than the odds make it seem. Tennessee should be more like a -800 but this is what we've got. Either way, Tennessee should win the game but I'm going to avoid this crazy high moneyline bet. Bet the spread and/or total instead.

Against the spread

BET SOUTH CAROLINA +14.5 (-106).

There is not a huge disparity between these teams and the Gamecocks should keep this game tight. South Carolina has covered the spread in 4 of their last 5 games.

I thought Tennessee would make short work of Vanderbilt in their last game but could not cover the spread. This team is far better than the Commodores and should give the Volunteers all they can handle on Tuesday night.

Over/Under

BET OVER 137.5 (-102).

I am surprised to not see this total set in the 140s but that's probably just to entice the action which I'm personally going to buy into. I know these teams pride themselves on the defensive end of the floor, they average a combined 152 points per game. South Carolina has been over the total in 4 of their last 5. Tennessee is 4-2-1 against the total in their last 6.
