Denver Nuggets at Oklahoma City Thunder odds, picks and predictions

The Denver Nuggets (33-15) take on the Oklahoma City Thunder(32-15) Wednesday with tip-off from Paycom Center set for 8 p.m. ET. Let's analyze BetMGM Sportsbook's lines around the Nuggets vs. Thunder odds and make our expert NBA picks and predictions.

Season series: OKC leads 2-1

The Nuggets have won 5 of 6 after a 113-107 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks Monday. They covered as 4-point favorites as C Nikola Jokic dropped a triple-double with 25 points, 16 boards and 12 assists. He is listed as questionable for this game with lower-back pain.

The Thunder shrunk to the challenge of taking the top spot in the West Monday with a 107-101 defeat to the Minnesota Timberwolves. G Shai Gilgeous-Alexander did all he could with 37 points, 8 assists and 7 boards in the setback. He's also questionable in this game with a non-COVID illness.

Nuggets at Thunder and predictions

Prediction

Nuggets 119, Thunder 111

Moneyline

It's this simple - if Jokic plays, the Nuggets are winning. And I think he does with the day off Thursday before a two-game set with Portland Friday and Sunday at home. The Thunder are without G Jalen Williams, who averages 18.4 PPG, and SGA is battling an illness.

Take the NUGGETS -105.

Against the spread

There's no point in taking the spread here with the ML at the cheaper price.

There is one prop I'm keyed in on, though. With Jokic's back an issue, I think he'll look to distribute a bit more. Coming off a 12-assist game I like NIKOLA JOKIC OVER 8.5 ASSISTS (-140).

Over/Under

OKC is 3-7 O/U over the last 10, and Denver is 2-8. This matchup has gone Under in 4 straight, but this is the smallest total in the last 7 matchups.

OKC took the last meeting 119-93 to miss the 236.5 number. I don't see futility like that here and expect a competitive game.

This one slips OVER 226.5 (-110).
