Phoenix Suns at Brooklyn Nets odds, picks and predictions

The Phoenix Suns (27-20) and Brooklyn Nets (19-27) meet at Barclays Center Wednesday. Tip-off is set for 8:30 p.m. ET (ABC). Let's analyze BetMGM Sportsbook's lines around the Suns vs. Nets odds and make our expert NBA picks and predictions.

Season series: Nets lead 1-0

The Suns are coming off a cover as 2.5-point underdogs in a 118-105 win at the Miami Heat Monday as the Under (230.5) hit. G Eric Gordon had 23 points and G Devin Booker added 22 as Phoenix snapped a 2-game straight-up and against-the-spread (ATS) skid.

The Nets covered as 1-point home underdogs with a 147-114 victory vs. the Utah Jazz Monday as the Over (237) cashed. G Ben Simmons (back) was just shy of a triple-double with 10 points, 11 assists and 8 rebounds in his return from a 38-game absence.

In a Dec. 13 meeting, Brooklyn covered as a 4.5-point underdog in a 116-112 victory at Phoenix as the Under (230.5) hit. Nets G Cam Thomas had 24 points, and F Mikal Bridges scored 21 against his former team.

Suns at Nets picks and predictions

Prediction

Suns 125, Nets 115

Moneyline

The Suns (-150) should get revenge for the 116-112 loss on Dec. 13, but I'd rather lay the points than risk $150 to win $100 on the ML.

PASS. Bet the spread and/or total instead.

Against the spread

The Suns should be able to string together back-to-back wins after snapping out of a rare 2-game skid. Before the 2 losses, Phoenix had won 7 straight, and with such a short spread, it's likely that a Suns win will also result in a cover.

The Nets have won 2 games in a row for the 1st time since back-to-back victories over the Detroit Pistons Dec. 23-26. This should be a letdown spot for them after a 33-point win.

BET SUNS -2.5 (-115).

Over/Under

The Nets' offense should regress after a 147-point outburst last time out, but reinserting Simmons into the rotation may be enough to keep it productive. Brooklyn was 20th in points per game averaging just 113.3 before Simmons' return, according to Teamrankings.com. While 1 game is obviously small sample size, it seems unlikely that Simmons will hurt the offense moving forward.

The Suns have put up 118 or more points in 3 of their last 4 games and should be able score in bunches from deep against the 7th-worst 3-point defense this season -- Brooklyn allows opponents to shoot 37.9% from 3.

LEAN OVER 233.5 (-110).
