The top-2 teams in the conference square off for the 1st time this season and the Boilermakers enter on a 6-game winning streak. The last loss for both teams was against Nebraska: Purdue fell 88-72 on Jan. 9 while Wisconsin blew an 18-point on Thursday and lost 80-72 in overtime to the Cornhuskers.
C Zach Edey is the leading scorer in the Big Ten and 3rd-highest nationally, averaging 23.4 points per game. Last year's National Player of the Year also leads the Big Ten in rebounds per game (11.6) and FG percentage (63.5%). G Braden Smith is 2nd in the conference with 7.5 assists per game.
The Badgers are 10-1 at home, having won 9 straight since a 80-70 loss on Nov. 10 loss to then-No. 9 Tennessee. Only Indiana has a higher average attendance than Wisconsin in the Big Ten so it should be a rather boisterous crowd in Madison. Purdue G Lance Jones had a season-high 26 points (5 3-pointers) in Wednesday's 105-96 OT victory over Northwestern. The Boilermakers shoot 3-pointers at the highest percentage in the Big Ten (40.4%), and only Northwestern (36.1%) allows their opponents to score from beyond the arc at a higher clip than Wisconsin (36.0%).
Edey has hit the 30-point mark in 4 of his last 6 games and he gets to the free throw line more than any player in college basketball. Sunday's main attraction, along with strong guard play from both teams, will help push this total Over.
