2024 Super Bowl prop bets: First-half moneyline winner

The Kansas City Chiefs battle the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LVIII Sunday. Kickoff from Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas is set for 6:30 p.m. ET (CBS). Below, we analyze FanDuel Sportsbook's Super Bowl 58 odds, focusing on the 1st-half moneyline, and make a suggested play among our expert NFL picks and predictions.
The Chiefs reigned supreme over the AFC West in the regular season but didn't earn the No. 1 seed. Kansas City welcomed the Miami Dolphins in the first round, beating them 26-7. It then took down the Bills 27-24 in the Divisional Round and the Baltimore Ravens 17-10 in the Conference Championship. The Chiefs covered the spread in each game.
The 49ers were the No. 1 seed in the NFC with a 12-5 record. They rallied vs. Green Bay 24-21 in the Divisional Round, then took down Detroit 34-31 in the Conference Championship. The 49ers failed to cover as 10.5-point favorites vs. the Packers and as 7.5-point favorites vs. the Lions. Meanwhile, they are 1-1 on the 1st-half moneyline through 2 postseason games.

Super Bowl 1st-half moneyline prediction
It is well known that the 49ers have struggled in the 1st half. They had come-from-behind victories in both of their playoff games, however, the season-long trends point to the 49ers being the better play in the 1st half.
San Francisco ranks 3rd in the league in the 1st-half time of possession (Kansas City sits 21st). The 49ers also rank 4th in 1st-half points at 14.8 while Kansas City sits 6th at 14.5.
The 49ers have one of the most efficient offenses in the NFL, and unlike the Dolphins, Bills and Ravens, San Francisco relies more heavily on the run, which is more of a weakness for the Chiefs than their secondary. That should bode well for the 49ers to continue drives and continue scoring in the opening half.
In the playoffs, the Chiefs are 2-1 in 1st-half moneylines, while the 49ers are 1-1.
San Francisco and Kansas City sit in the top 6 in opponent's red-zone scoring attempts per game. Neither team allows much progression once in the red zone.
With San Francisco being a more efficient attack and having consistently owned more possession in the 1st half than its opponent, back the 49ers to win the opening half. TAKE 49ERS (-120).
