2024 Bluegreen Vacations Duel 1 odds, picks and predictions

The NASCAR Cup Series is back at Daytona International Speedway Thursday night for the 2024 Bluegreen Vacations Duel races as part of Speedweeks. The green flag drops for Duel 1 at approximately 7:22 p.m. ET (FS1). Let's analyze BetMGM Sportsbook's lines around the 2024 Bluegreen Vacations Duel 1 odds, and make our expert NASCAR picks and predictions.

Bluegreen Vacations Duel 1: What you need to know

  • Penske Racing driver Joey Logano posted a best speed of 181.947 mph Wednesday to secure the pole for Sunday's Daytona 500. He is tied with Hendrick Motorsports driver Chase Elliott for the shortest odds (+600) to win the 1st Duel race
  • Logano was not on the pole, nor did he lead the most laps in last season's Duel 1, but he ended up winning it. He is a 3-time winner of the 60-lap duel race, taking checkers in Duel 1 in 2020, and Duel 2 in 2019 with crew chief Paul Wolfe
  • RFK Racing driver Chris Buescher, who was 4th in last season's Duel 1, has the next shortest odds (+700) in Duel 1

JOEY LOGANO (+600) has had the fastest machine in Daytona this week, and he has won a Duel race 3 different times just since 2019. The Penske Racing driver has already secured the pole for the Daytona 500, but he wouldn't likely mind adding another feather in his cap with a victory Thursday night.

Bluegreen Vacations Duel 1 – Contender

Joe Gibbs Racing driver TY GIBBS (+1600) enters the 2024 campaign with a ton of promise. The 2022 Xfinity Series champion will be in his 2nd full season behind the wheel of the Monster Energy No. 54 Toyota, and he is looking to take a big leap forward in his progression.

Gibbs was pesky at the Los Angeles Coliseum in the Busch Clash last weekend, leading 84 of the 150 laps to lead all drivers. He turned in a speed of just 179.211 mph in qualifying for the 500, but he is a nice long-shot play to multiply up by 16 Thursday if he can catch lightning in a bottle.

Bluegreen Vacations Duel 1 – Long shot

If you're really adventurous, consider 7-time NASCAR Cup Series champ JIMMIE JOHNSON (+3000), racing the No. 84 Toyota for the Legacy Motor Club. He failed to secure a spot in the 500 in Wednesday's qualifying, so the non-chartered team member will have to be the highest finisher among the non-chartered drivers in his qualifying race Thursday.
