2024 NBA All-Star Game odds, picks and predictions

Closing out 2024 NBA All-Star Weekend is the  West All-Stars vs. the East All-Stars Sunday at Gainbridge Fieldhouse at 8 p.m. ET (TNT). Let's analyze BetMGM Sportsbook's lines around the NBA All-Star Game odds and make our expert NBA picks and predictions.

The midseason classic shifts back to West vs. East this season after team captains selected teams for the past 6 years. The West roster features starters: C Nikola Jokic, F Kevin Durant, F LeBron James, G Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and G Luka Doncic. The reserves include guards Devin Booker, Stephen Curry and Anthony Edwards and forwards Anthony Davis, Paul George, Kawhi Leonard and Karl-Anthony Towns. This game marks James' 20th All-Star selection, which breaks the all-time record.

The East features starters: C Joel Embiid (knee, out), F Giannis Antetokounmpo, F Jayson Tatum, G Tyrese Haliburton and G Damian Lillard. The reserves include guards Jaylen Brown, Jalen Brunson, Tyrese Maxey, Donovan Mitchell and Trae Young (injury replacement), forwards Paolo Banchero, Scottie Barnes (injury replacement) and Julius Randle (shoulder, out) and center Bam Adebayo.

Prediction

West All-Stars 178, East All-Stars 163

Moneyline

The West roster is loaded with shooters and size whereas the East really loses luster without Embiid and 3 young guys in a rare spotlight. That said, this is a pretty unstable bet to put 1½ times your return on.

Instead, I'll take a chance on the MVP. As mentioned, LeBron has broken the record for most All-Star appearances. He put a heavy emphasis on winning the In-Season Tournament because the Lakers are a long shot to do any damage in the playoffs. I look for him to make this stage his own just like he did in the In-Season Tournament.

SPRINKLE on LEBRON JAMES ALL-STAR GAME MVP (+700).

Against the spread

I love the West's spread here. Over the last 13 All-Star Games, we've had 1 finish within 2 points. Before the game changed formats, the West won 3 straight meetings, and they still rule supreme with talent.

TAKE WEST ALL-STARS -2.5 (-115).

Over/Under

Last year's ASG finished with a mind-boggling 184-175 score. That still falls short of this massive 363.5 total. We haven't had a total this big clear since 2017.

LEAN UNDER 363.5 (-110).
