Nashville Predators at Vegas Golden Knights odds, picks and predictions

The Nashville Predators (28-25-2) and the Vegas Golden Knights (32-17-6) meet Tuesday at T-Mobile Arena. Puck drop is scheduled for 10 p.m. ET (ESPN+). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook's lines around the Predators vs. Golden Knights odds, and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.

The Predators posted a 5-2 win on the road against the St. Louis Blues on Saturday, kicking off the 5-game road trip with success. It was the 1st time in 7 games Nashville hadn't conceded at least 4 goals. Despite the solid effort, the Preds are still allowing 4.0 goals per game (GPG) across the past 10 outings.

Nashville just visited Vegas on Jan. 15, with the Golden Knights coming away with a 4-1 win as slight favorites (-115) as the Under (5.5) connected. VGK won the season series 2-1 in 2022-23, with the total going 1-1-1 in the 3 meetings.

The Golden Knights scored a 4-0 win against the San Jose Sharks on Monday, and play on no rest for the 1st time since Jan. 27. Vegas has a solid 8-3-1 mark across the past 12 games, cashing the Under in 4 of the past 5 outings.

Predators at Golden Knights projected goalies

Juuse Saros (21-21-2, 3.02 GAA, .902 SV%, 2 SO) vs. Adin Hill (14-4-2, 2.06 GAA, .931 SV%, 2 SO)

Saros turned aside 35 of the 37 shots he faced in Saturday's 5-2 victory in St. Louis. He was the goalie of record in the Jan. 15 trip to Vegas, allowing 3 goals on 28 shots in the 4-1 setback.

Hill allowed 3 goals on 28 shots in Saturday's 3-1 home loss to the Carolina Hurricanes. He has coughed up 7 goals on 56 shots in the past 2 outings, both losses, and he is a rather ordinary 2-2-0 with a 2.54 GAA and .908 SV% in 4 starts in February.

Hill has not faced Nashville this season. He allowed just a single goal on 17 shots in a 5-1 win in the Music City on Feb. 7, 2023, in his only appearance against the Preds last season.

Predators at Golden Knights picks and predictions

Prediction

Golden Knights 3, Predators 2

Moneyline

The GOLDEN KNIGHTS (-145) are a solid play as a moderate favorite on home ice. Vegas has dropped the past 2 games at home, but it has won 4 of the past 6 at The Fortress, including the 1st meeting in mid-January against the Predators (+120).

Nashville would be a tempting play with VGK playing on no rest, but the Predators have been terrible defensively and in the goaltending department. Until the Preds start to tighten up in those areas, keep fading them.

Puck line/Against the spread

The Predators +1.5 (-200) would cost you 2 times your potential return, if you need a little insurance and can't play Nashville straight up.

The Golden Knights -1.5 (+165) covered the puck line as a favorite on Monday in San Jose, but Vegas is just 2-5 in the past 7 on the puck line when favored. And, again, it is playing on no rest. The last time the Golden Knights were playing on no rest as a favorite they barely squeaked by the Sharks 5-4 in a shootout on Dec. 10. It was also favored in Pittsburgh on Nov. 19 working on no rest, and Vegas lost 3-0.

AVOID, and look to the moneyline only.

Over/Under

The UNDER 5.5 (+105) is a tempting play at plus-money, but go lightly.

Vegas has hit the Under in 4 of the past 5 outings, allowing 11 total goals (2.2 GPG) in the 5-game span. The Under also cashed in the mid-January battle in Vegas.

While the Predators have been terrible defensively of late, the team isn't far removed from a 7-0 Under run from Jan. 13-27. That's Nashville hockey, defense and goaltending, and this offense isn't built for track meets.
