Pitt at Wake Forest odds, picks and predictions

The Pittsburgh Panthers (17-8, 8-6 ACC) and Wake Forest Demon Deacons (16-9, 8-6) meet Tuesday at Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Winston-Salem, N.C. Tip-off is scheduled for 9 p.m. ET (ACC Network). Below, we analyze FanDuel Sportsbook's lines around the Pittsburgh vs. Wake Forest odds, and make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and best bets.

The Panthers were just 10-7 straight up (SU) after an 11-point loss at home to Syracuse on Jan. 16, and Pitt looked dead in the water as far as NCAA Tournament aspirations were concerned. However, the Panthers have rattled off 7 wins and covers in the past 8 games, including Q1 wins at Duke, NC State and Virginia to give them a shot at the postseason.

Pitt has won 3 of the past 4 in the series. These teams met in the Steel City on Jan. 31, and Pittsburgh came away with a 77-72 win as 2.5-point favorites as the Over (145) connected. Wake Forest has a 5-3 against the spread (ATS) advantage in the past 8 while the Over is on a 5-1-1 run across the past 7 meetings.

The Demon Deacons suffered a low-scoring 49-47 loss at Virginia last time out on Saturday, but Wake did hold on for the cover at most shops as a 2.5-point underdog. The Under is 3-1 in the past 4 outings, while Wake Forest has a losing SU record in the past 11 games (5-6).

Pitt at Wake Forest picks and predictions

Prediction

Pitt 74, Wake Forest 68

Moneyline

PITTSBURGH (+210) is a tremendous value for the chance to more than double up. The Panthers have been on a roll lately, especially on the road, scoring huge victories to bolster the NCAA Tournament.

Wake Forest (-260) hasn't been nearly as consistent, dropping 4 of the past 7 games, although the Deacs have done a great job protecting the home court at "The Joel". Wake is 13-0 SU at home, so there is obviously some risk.

Against the spread

PITTSBURGH +6.5 (-115) isn't a bad alternative if Wake Forest -6.5 (-105) scares you from playing the visitors straight up due to its tremendous home record.

The Deacs have covered just 3 of the past 7 games, while the Panthers are on a roll, cashing in 5 straight, and 7 of the past 8 outings. That includes the Jan. 31 win over Wake in the Steel City. The Panthers have covered 3 of the past 4 as an underdog, too.

Over/Under

UNDER 144.5 (-105) is worth playing, especially after Wake Forest's atrocious offensive showing last time out against UVA.

The Under is 2-1 in the past 3 games for the Panthers, too, while holding a  4-3 edge across the past 7 outings.

The Deacs have gone low in 3 of the past 4 outings, but again, there is some risk, as these teams combined for 149 points with a total of 145 in Pittsburgh on Jan. 31. Go lightly.
