Denver Nuggets at Portland Trail Blazers odds, picks and predictions
The Denver Nuggets (37-19) and Portland Trail Blazers (15-39) meet at Moda Center Friday. Tip-off is set for 10 p.m. ET. Let's analyze BetMGM Sportsbook's lines around the Nuggets vs. Trail Blazers odds and make our expert NBA picks and predictions.
Season series: Nuggets lead 2-0
The Nuggets covered as 15.5-point home favorites with a 130-110 win over the Washington Wizards Thursday as the Over (232.5) hit. The victory snapped a 3-game straight-up (SU) and against-the-spread (ATS) skid.
The Trail Blazers entered the All-Star break losers of 6 straight. They've failed to cover in 4 consecutive games and are coming off back-to-back double-digit losses vs. the Minnesota Timberwolves -- 121-109 on Feb. 13 and 128-91 on Feb. 15.
Portland covered in the 1st 2 meetings this season, and the Over/Under (O/U) went 1-1. The most recent meeting was a 112-103 Nuggets home win Feb. 4 as the Under (220.5) cashed.

Nuggets at Trail Blazers picks and predictions
Prediction
Nuggets 109, Trail Blazers 108
Moneyline
The Nuggets (-450) may be looking ahead to their Sunday matchup at the Golden State Warriors. I don't recommend risking $450 to win $100 in this spot.
PASS. Bet the spread and/or total instead.
Against the spread
This game means a lot more to the Trail Blazers. Portland was embarrassed in back-to-back home games before the break and is 0-5 SU vs. Denver in the last 5 meetings.
Denver has been consistently overrated by the market this season and is just 23-31-2 ATS, the 5th-worst record in the league. The Nuggets are among the most talented teams in the NBA, but they're lacking urgency in the regular season. I wouldn't be surprised if they come out flat in this spot while looking ahead to their next game at Golden State.
BET TRAIL BLAZERS +9.5 (-110).
Over/Under
The Under is 8-1 this season when Denver plays divisional opponents. Portland has allowed 121 or more points in back-to-back games, but it only allowed 112 to Denver in the Feb. 4 meeting. The Trail Blazers should be able to reset defensively after the break and help the Under hit, but this total is set a bit too low for me to bet it.
LEAN UNDER 218.5 (-110).
