Rangers at Flyers projected goalies

Igor Shesterkin (24-12-1, 2.74 GAA, .907 SV%, 1 SO) vs. Samuel Ersson (16-10-4, 2.58 GAA, .900 SV%, 3 SO)

Shesterkin has won 5 straight starts. The Rangers were outshot 42-25 vs. Dallas Tuesday, but Shesterkin still carried his team to a 3-1 victory. The 2021-22 Vezina Trophy winner followed up that performance with 39 saves vs. New Jersey in a 5-1 dominating win Thursday.

Ersson bounced back vs. Chicago this past Wednesday, allowing only 1 goal after surrendering 9 in his prior 2 starts. For the season, only 4 goaltenders have more shutouts than Ersson.

Rangers at Flyers picks and predictions

Prediction

Rangers 4, Flyers 2

Moneyline

BET RANGERS (-137).

D Jacob Trouba, who has the 3rd-most blocked shots in the NHL (160), mentioned after Thursday's win that his team is at its best when it's playing with speed and physicality. Expect that kind of battle Saturday afternoon, as both Flyers coach John Tortorella and Rangers coach Peter Laviolette are each facing their former teams. New York should win its 10th straight, which would tie the longest win streak in franchise history.

Puck line/Against the spread

BET HALF-UNIT ON RANGERS -1.5 (+172).

The Rangers boast another superb defenseman in D Adam Fox, who has the 7th-most points (46) among players at his position. Laviolette pointed out that the Rangers killed close to a period of penalties vs. New Jersey, and now his team will be taking on the worst power play unit (13.3 PP%) in the Eastern Conference in Philadelphia. The Blueshirts should have control of this game late and get a chance at an empty-net goal.

Over/Under

PASS.

My lean would be the Under, given how locked in Shesterkin is. However, New York is such a talented team offensively, and while Ersson looked good in his last start, the Blackhawks aren't in the same conversation as the Rangers.
