When a team makes history, this is the kind of hype they deserve!

As many will know, Canada is a hockey-mad nation. In the Great White North, the sport transcends age and gender. So, becoming a hero on ice is a cause for a major celebration.
For a group of hockey-playing women from Nova Scotia, the recent Canada Winter Games provided a historic taste of glory when Team Nova Scotia reached the final for the first time ever!

No Atlantic women's hockey team had ever won a medal at the games. That's why members of another Atlantic team, Newfoundland and Labrador, were the first ones there to celebrate with them!
And, despite a shock 3-2 win over Ontario in the semifinal, Team Nova Scotia lined up against British Columbia in the championship game as heavy underdogs. As it turned out, they went down 3-0. But even by claiming the silver medal, they put their province on the women's hockey map.
"I just felt overwhelmed with happiness and joy. I even cried," said team captain Samantha Morrison after their semifinal win. "That was my gold medal. No one expected us to win after going into the tournaments as underdogs."
Team Nova Scotia's previous best finish at the Canada Winter Games was fifth place in 2003. Head coach Kori Cheverie played on that team, and hopes this latest success is the start of something even bigger!
"Hopefully, we've sparked some momentum within our own province for young girls and young boys playing hockey," she said.
