Taylor Fritz's pursuit of his first Grand Slam singles title is still alive.
The American tennis star is into the quarterfinals of the men's draw at Wimbledon, where he will take on Karen Khachanov of Russia with a spot in the semifinals on the line.
Fritz, the No. 5 player in the world, needed five sets to win each of his first two matches, but he has been more dominant the past two rounds. He knocked off 26th seed Alejandro Davidovich Fokina of Spain in four sets in the third round and needed just 41 minutes in the fourth round to defeat Australia's Jordan Thompson, who retired due to an injury while trailing 3-0 in the second set (and after dropping the first set 6-1).
This year marks the third time since 2022 that Fritz has reached the quarterfinals, though in each of the previous two instances, he failed to advance to the semifinals.
