Rousey, who refused to speak to the media during the week leading up to her fight against Amanda Nunes, skipped the customary post-fight press conference after suffering a brutal, first-round TKO at UFC 207.

“Unfortunately, she left the building pretty quickly,’’ said Lenee Breckenridge, who is vice president of communications for UFC and said all fighters are asked to attend the press conference. “And Ronda chose not to attend.’’

Without Rousey around to speak for herself, speculation about her future mounted. Nunes emphatically stated Rousey would retire.

“That’s it for her,’’ Nunes said at her post-fight press conference. “For sure, she’s going to retire.

“If she wants a rematch, I’m going to do the same thing. She can’t take my punches.’’

Yet Lance Pugmire of the Los Angeles Times tweeted that UFC president Dana White told him his “hunch’’ is that Rousey will fight again.

Earlier in the week, White said he granted Rousey’s request to forego prefight media responsibilities because she has devoted so much time to promoting UFC. Rousey indicated she wanted to focus exclusively on the fight and remove distractions such as press conference.
