2018 Winter Olympics medal count: How Team USA is faring in Pyeongchang

PYEONGCHANG, South Korea — Mikaela Shiffrin's first gold medal of the 2018 Olympics was the eighth overall for the United States

Shiffin originally intended to participate in five events, but the postponement of two races made the schedule even more compressed and the 22-year-old will skip Saturday's Super-G race. 

Even without the Super-G, Shiffrin will have three more chances at gold: the slalom on Day 7 (Thursday night ET), as well as the upcoming downhill and alpine combined events.
