WNBA power rankings: Ranking every team by odds to win 2025 championship

Caitlin Clark's quad injury put a temporary damper on the Indiana Fever's 2025 season, but their WNBA championship odds haven't taken a big hit yet.
Though Clark is expected to miss at least two weeks of action, and a quad injury also hampered her during the preseason, the Fever remain one of the top contenders to break through and win a title this season. But they are still behind the two teams that duked it out in last year's WNBA Finals, according to oddsmakers.
The defending WNBA champion New York Liberty are the favorites to repeat and the Minnesota Lynx are poised to challenge them again with the second-best odds, per BetMGM. There are several other teams off to encouraging starts to the season that could be potential threats as new acquisitions like Kelsey Plum with the Los Angeles Sparks, Brittney Griner with the Atlanta Dream and Sabou Sabally with the Phoenix Mercury have made an early difference. The Las Vegas Aces, the 2023 WNBA champions, also lurk as a force to be reckoned with behind reigning MVP A'ja Wilson.
It's shaping up to be a dramatic season on and off the court in the WNBA. Here's an updated power ranking of every team based on its odds to win the 2025 championship now that some results are in the books:
WNBA championship odds 2025: Power ranking every team
Odds courtesy of BetMGM as of Tuesday, May 27.
Favorites
- 1. New York Liberty (+175)
- 2. Minnesota Lynx (+300)
- 3. Indiana Fever (+400)
- 4. Las Vegas Aces (+425)
Three of the four teams at the top of the WNBA pecking order, according to oddsmakers, remain unchanged from the end of last season. The defending WNBA champion New York Liberty are off to a 3-0 start. The team they beat in the WNBA Finals, the Minnesota Lynx, are also a perfect 4-0 to begin the 2025 season and Napheesa Collier is leading the league in scoring (29.5 points per game).
The Aces are off to an uneven 2-2 start, but A'ja Wilson looks as good as ever leading the team in points, rebounds, assists, steals and blocks. The Fever's hopes took a temporary blow with Caitlin Clark's injury, but there remains optimism about the team's season-long outlook.
Contenders
- 5. Phoenix Mercury (+1500)
- 6. Seattle Storm (+1700)
- 7. Atlanta Dream (+3500)
The Storm got a convincing win over Las Vegas on Sunday, after avenging a season-opening loss to the Mercury, who are also off to an encouraging 3-1 start. Atlanta has emerged as a potential threat with guards Allisha Gray and Rhyne Howard playing well to open the 2025 season alongside new acquisition Brittney Griner inside.
Longshots
- T8. Washington Mystics (+8000)
- T8 Los Angeles Sparks (+8000)
- 10. Dallas Wings (+10,000)
- 11. Chicago Sky (+20,000)
- T12. Connecticut Sun (+50,000)
- T12. Golden Valkyries (+50,000)
The Mystics have lost three in a row but have proven feistier than expected despite a roster built for the start of a rebuild. The Sparks just snapped a three-game losing skid and new star Kelsey Plum is averaging 24.8 points, 5.6 assists and 2.4 steals per game. Chicago, Dallas and Connecticut are the last remaining winless teams this season, though that will change this week with Dallas scheduled to face Connecticut on Tuesday, and Chicago scheduled to face Dallas on Thursday.
