Caitlin Clark injury update: Fever star out for WNBA Commissioner's Cup final

Caitlin Clark will not be returning to the Indiana Fever lineup for the 2025 WNBA Commissioner's Cup final on Tuesday, the team announced.
The Fever announced on Tuesday, July 1 that Clark would not be cleared to make her highly anticipated return to the court as the Fever gear up to face the Minnesota Lynx in the 2025 WNBA Commissioner's Cup championship game on Tuesday in Minneapolis due to a left groin injury that has sidelined Clark for two consecutive games.
The team's injury report also included Damiris Dantas, who will be out of the lineup due to a national team obligation.
Clark had been considered day-to-day after alerting the Fever coaching staff of her injury on June 25th, following the Fever's 94-86 win over the Seattle Storm on June 24. But it appeared Clark might be ready to go for the title game after she confidently told WNBA Commissioner Cathy Engelbert on Sunday, "We about to get that dub."

Fever coach Stephanie White previously suggested they were still considering Clark playing while keeping an eye on the "big picture."
“We'll see what happens as we go through shoot-around," White said Tuesday morning, according to SI. "Again, I think the most important thing for us is big picture. No sense in rushing anything, so we'll get her evaluated by the training staff and go from there."
Clark has battled the injury bug all season. In addition to missing two games with a groin injury, Clark was sidelined five consecutive games with a quad strain earlier this month, marking the longest stretch of games she's missed due to injury in her collegiate or WNBA career. The Fever have gone 3-4 this season without Clark.
The Fever advanced to the Commissioner's Cup final for the first time in franchise history following a 88-71 win over the Connecticut Sun on June 17, where Clark dropped 20 points and six assists. The Minnesota Lynx, the reigning Commissioner's Cup champions, punched their ticket to the championship game for the second consecutive year after downing the A'ja Wilson-less Las Vegas Aces, 76-62, on June 17.
Clark and Collier were both named captains for the 2025 All-Star Game on June 29.
