Websites go silent to honor Newtown
Several notable websites paused Friday to pay tributes to the victims of the school shooting in Newtown.
At 9:30 a.m. ET, many Internet users likely found their favorite website displayed an overlayed green ribbon. "We are observing a National Moment of Silence for the victims of the Sandy Hook tragedy," reads the message.
Details of the movement were available on a page created through the online advocacy site Causes. Participants listed include Adobe, Foursquare, Jawbone and Rockmelt.
Meanwhile, Internet search giant Google opted for a simple green ribbon on their home page. Countless Twitter members used the hashtag #momentforsandyhook to pay tribute.
