Tech Five: Apple Pay may arrive later this month


Consumers might get their first taste of Apple's new mobile payments service later this month. Let's look at the technology stocks to watch Thursday:

Apple. According to financial site Bank Innovation, Apple will launch the iOS 8.1 update on October 20 that will introduce its mobile payments service Apple Pay. The tech giant is also reported to ready the announcement of a new iPad this month.

Wayfair. The e-commerce site will begin trading on the New York Stock Exchange on Thursday. The Wall Street Journal reports Wayfair has priced their initial public offering at $29 per share.

Verizon. The wireless carrier says it's dropping plans to throttle data speeds for mobile customers still under unlimited plans. The Verge reports Verizon's plan was expected to kick off this month.

Netflix. The streaming media giant inked a deal with Adam Sandler to produce and star in four films that will be available exclusively on Netflix. This follows a deal to release a sequel to Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon on the same day it hits theaters.

IBM. Big Blue is working with economic development officials in New York City to help grow the city's tech industry. It starts with an online hub called Digital.NYC that offers information on tech firms, job openings and other resources.
