Tech Five: New info on Microsoft's next browser
New details have emerged on a potential successor to the Internet Explorer Web browser. Let's look at the five technology stocks to watch Friday:
Microsoft. The tech giant is planning a major overhaul for its next Web browser, according to The Verge. Citing sources familiar with MIcrosoft's plans, the report says the browser -- codenamed Spartan -- will feature the ability to annotate Web pages and support for digital voice assistant Cortana.
Apple. The company hired Hewlett-Packard veteran John Solomon to manage sales of Apple products to big companies, reports Re/code. Solomon may also have a role in international sales of the Apple Watch, which is reportedly slated to launch in March.
Google. The tech titan's share of the Internet search market posted its largest slide since 2009, after Firefox browser maker Mozilla replaced Google with Yahoo as the default search engine. However, Google still holds a dominant 75.2% share of the space.
Twitter. The social network is reportedly weeks away from launching a new video feature. According to Re/code, users will be able to shoot, edit and post video straight from Twitter's app. It's not clear how this feature will differ from Vine, Twitter's video app that lets users share six-second clips.
Infosys. Shares of the information technology company are up more than 7% in early trading after reporting a 13% increase in profit during the quarter, reports CNBC.
