Box. Shares are down more than 3% in pre-market trading, following a Thursday plunge where Box closed down more than 11%. The reason? The company reported a net loss of $1.65, missing analysts' forecasts of a $1.17 per share loss.

Intel. Also closing down Thursday was the chip maker, finishing down 4.7% after warning first-quarter sales may be more than $1 billion lower than forecast. Pre-market activity on Friday is quieter for Intel, with shares down 0.2%.

Microsoft. The tech giant will launch a standalone app featuring personal voice assistant Cortana for iOS and Android devices, reports Reuters. A newer version of Cortana is expected to arrive with Windows 10 this fall.

Amazon. The online retailer acquired 2lemetry, a startup specializing in platforms for Internet-connected devices, reports TechCrunch. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Apple. The tech giant launched a public beta for the next version of its mobile operating system. According to The Verge, iPhone owners wanting to learn more about iOS 8.3 can test it out before its release later this year.
