Weekend Listening - SXSW, Apple Watch, Meerkat
AUSTIN - We're here with the rest of the tech world at the South by Southwest festival, but not too busy to compile a collection of our best audio podcasts from the week.
We begin--where else? Austin, the capital city, where Jon Swartz, Ed Baig, John Shinal and I go over highlights from what we've seen at the fest so far. Can I hear robots, Charles Barkley and Meerkat wannabes?
Next, I offer up an audio tour of the SXSW convention floor.
For week 3 of the Ellen Pao/Kleiner Perkins sex bias trial in San Francisco, we check in with Laura Mandaro and Elizabeth Weise, for a rundown on the latest developments.
Next up: Apple previewed its new smartwatch earlier in the week, with a release date (April 24th) and list price ranges of $350, $550 and (ahem....) $10,000. Is the watch a good business opportunity? Would the panelists of our Tech Roundtable buy one?
After the preview, Jon Swartz, Marco della Cava and I weighed on the watch, and the entire event. Our take:
Lots of new apps were introduced this week. Here's a fun new one. Flyp, to give you a free, additional phone number for your smart phone.
We talked great photography with tech investor and ace photographer Christopher Michel.
And finally, we looked at Chris Michel's favorite online photo service, Smugmug.
Happy listening everyone!
