Tech Five: Facebook moving into news biz?


Facebook is potentially weighing a big partnership with media companies. Let's take a look at the tech stocks to watch Tuesday:

Facebook. The social network is talking with news organizations including The New York Times, Buzzfeed and National Geographic about hosting content inside Facebook, reports The New York Times. The report also says Facebook is discussing ways for publishers to generate revenue from ads that run along with the hosted content.

Google. Shares are up nearly 2% in morning trading after the tech giant announced Morgan Stanley CFO Ruth Porat was leaving to take a similar role with Google. Along with her stint as CFO, Porat was the lead banker on key financing rounds for tech companies including Amazon and eBay.

Microsoft. The company announced it is partnering with 11 device manufacturers worldwide to include pre-installed apps such as Word, Skype and Excel to Android devices. Microsoft is also expanding its partnership with Samsung to pre-install similar apps on their Android tablets.

Twitter. The microblogging service is experimenting with videos that automatically play within iPhone and iPad apps, reports AdAge.

Adobe. The software company is teaming up with Microsoft to assist on the browser dubbed Project Spartan, reports Cnet. The Web browser is expected to make its debut with Windows 10 when it launches this summer.
