Tech Five: Apple acquires AI tech startup


Apple confirmed the acquisition of Perceptio, a company that creates artificial intelligence tech for smartphones. How has Wall Street responded to Apple's latest acquisition?

Let's check out the tech stocks to watch Tuesday.

Apple. According to Bloomberg, Perceptio specializes in image-recognition systems that require less user data. It's not clear how exactly their tech would fit in Apple products. Terms of the deal have not been disclosed. Shares of Apple are up slightly in pre-market trading.

Microsoft. The tech giant is preparing to unveil a slew of devices running Windows 10 at an event in New York Tuesday. Devices includes a fresh line of Lumia smartphones and a revamped Surface Pro tablet.

Twitter. One day after confirming Jack Dorsey will stay on as CEO, the company unveiled Moments, which allows users to find the best and most relevant tweets from major events. The feature will roll out Tuesday on iOS, Android and desktop.

Alibaba. The American Apparel & Footwear Association wants the company's online site Taobao classified as "notorious" for counterfeit goods, reports The Wall Street Journal. Alibaba says it works hard to prevent counterfeits, and accuses the group of not wanting to meet with the company.

Cisco. Citi is giving the networking giant a "buy" rating, reports CNBC, citing growing profit margins.
