Tech Five: Apple reportedly opens new product lab
Shares of Nvidia are surging ahead of the bell, while Apple has reportedly opened a production laboratory in Taiwan.
Let's look at technology stocks to watch Tuesday:
Apple. The tech giant opened a new facility starting development on display technologies, reports Bloomberg. The lab featuring 50 engineers will reportedly work on new screens for the company's future iPhones and iPads.
Nvidia. Shares of the chip maker rose nearly 2% in early trading Tuesday after losing a claim its patents were violated by Samsung and Qualcomm. According to Reuters, a U.S. trade body rejected a review of the decision to clear Samsung and Qualcomm of patent infringement over graphic chips. Nvidia claims the companies used their graphic chips tech without permission.
FireEye. Shares of the cybersecurity company are up more than 4% after investment firm Evercore rated them a "buy." According to CNBC, Evercore believes FireEye will perform well as other companies seek to shore up computer security.
Netflix. The media company is working on technology to improve video streams while cutting back on the data used. Variety reports the technology reports the upgraded streams could save up to 20% in data.
Pandora. The music streaming giant is launching a new station called Thumbprint Radio. The station pulls together songs inspired by other tracks users have blessed with their thumbs up.
