Everalbum for taking control of smartphone photos

LOS ANGELES - Face it, we're taking way too many photos and it's a real problem trying to figure out where they are.
Charlie Melbye, the co-founder of the Everalbum app, suggests his software can solve the problem. Melybe guested on #TalkingTech podcast this week, and spoke about the differences between his app and big-gun Google Photos, which offers many similar features--for free.
Google Photos is free--and so is Everalbum. But it offers a $9.99 monthly premium offering, with high-resolution back up of photos and videos, and differs from Google Photos in that besides backing up smartphone photos, it also pulls together images from Facebook, Dropbox and other sources.
A new feature just added: "Explore," which uses machine learning to go through your photos and make automatic albums from your memories. Everalbum categories them into landmarks, holidays and places--for instance, Venice Beach, New York's Broadway, the New Hampshire State House and Copley Square in Boston, all places Talking Tech visited recently.
