Facebook and its services Instagram, WhatsApp restored after brief outage

Having trouble with Facebook or other services like Instagram or WhatsApp on Friday? You weren't alone.

In a statement obtained by Paste BN, Facebook said it has restored service to its social network, as well as Instagram and WhatsApp, after they were knocked down by brief outages.

"Earlier today, a technical issue caused people to have trouble accessing some Facebook services," the company said in a statement. "We resolved this issue for everyone, and we apologize for any inconvenience."

Outages were first reported shortly after 1 p.m. ET on Down Detector, a website that tracks issues with internet platforms.

On Instagram, the most common problem reported by users is the news feed not loading. WhatsApp users reported problems connecting to the messaging service. Most Facebook users reported to Down Detector trouble accessing both the social network and Facebook Messenger.

Several users took to Twitter to report issues, as trends such as "My IG" and "Y'all Instagram" were trending Friday afternoon.
