Hey there listeners, it's Brett Molina. Welcome back to Talking Tech. If you're like me, you probably take a couple pictures. You see yourself in pictures and you're like, "Oh my God. Why and how do I look like this?" If that is the case, there is hope. Look, if you're looking to take better pictures and selfies or group photos, if you're just worried about, oh God, I look hideous in this picture, my colleague columnist, Kim Komando has a story that you can read on tech.usatoday.com, talking about tips that you can take to help improve how you look in selfies and group photos. One of the first pieces of advice she offers is getting rid of your "turkey neck."
I always joke about this with my family and worried I have a double chin, but one of the first tips she offers is where you place the camera, because cameras can make certain features look even more exaggerated than they should be. And if you know perspective and you know the right angle to place your camera, that's going to help. Maybe you want to hold the camera higher up, so you're looking up a little bit. Kim mentions maybe elongating your neck. Maybe you tip your chin down just a little. Just subtle little of things that you can do to get a better picture. And also what you could do too, is if you have your front facing camera on your iPhone, you can practice, take selfies, take a bunch of them, and just figure out what works.
We'll share one more tip, and we'll let you find the rest in her column. One of the other tips she offers is figuring out your best selfie angle. I mean you hear people joke about all the time, take this picture on my good side, but that's what you're wanting to look for is figuring out what your good side is, figuring out the best angle when it comes to taking pictures. She mentions an influencer on Instagram who notes, "You should take a series of nine selfies from a bunch of different angles." So, you might take one that's head on. You might take some right in front of your face, one above, one below, and you just go from different angles. And you take a look at all those photos, and then you figure out, okay which ones look the best.
And then that gives you a sense of how to take selfies and make sure you look great. Those are a couple tips. You can read more of Kim's advice in her column on tech.usatoday.com.
