Virtual reality is one of the major themes at this latest CES. And few companies in the space are watched more closely than Oculus.

The Facebook-owned company announced that it will start taking pre-orders for the highly-anticipated Oculus Rift at 8:00 AM PT on Wednesday. Folks who preorder the headset at that time will also get Lucky’s Tale by Playful and CCP’s EVE: Valkyrie bundled free.

More specifics are promised on Wednesday when Oculus founder Palmer Luckey answers questions via Reddit.

Meanwhile, though Oculus Rift is still on track to launch Rift as promised in the first three months of the year, the company announced a delay until the second quarter of the Oculus Touch controller.

Rift and other VR headsets can put you in a fully immersive virtual environment or place that would otherwise not be possible, maybe under the sea or on top of Mt Everest. Though much of the early action will be in gaming, virtual reality also has promise in travel, sports and other fields.

Oculus rivals will also be showcasing their VR gear during CES, including HTC which is pushing its HTC Vive system, and Sony, which is promoting PlayStation VR.
